My apartment building uses a Facebook group and it's been pretty useful. It's the only reason I log into Facebook at all.
Are there any practical alternatives for a loose group of people of varying ages and tech-savviness?

@neilk Same here! The group of my previous previous apartment building was the only redeeming activity in Facebook I've experienced in the past 12 years.
I want to say Discourse (web forums are ancient tech by now!) but I've been toying with the idea of a Signal group for the same purpose. I've heard of friends using Signal groups with very diverse groups of people already. It's only going to be ok for very low amount of traffic, like occasional announcements which elicit few replies if any.
