podcast tech complaint

So apparently what happened is that Acast didn’t set up a 301 redirect, they setup 302 redirect. Which doesn’t tell any of the apps like Apple that the feed is permanently moved. Then they deleted my feed since I was no longer with them and they thought it was old and no longer in use. That means that anybody who subscribed to the Acast feed got bumped from the show. Which explains why I went from 80-90k downloads per episode to 30-40k. Excuse me while I go throw up.

@roseveleth that is a breach of contract surely. 301 is permanent. It says "I mean it" 302 is temporary, it says "I haven't settled, keep checking here". They need to own this and give you a real 301.

@KevinMarks if my experience with Acast in the past is any indication, they won't do jack shit for me -- I left the platform because they were so deeply incompetent and careless, and two years later they continue to manage to fuck me over

@roseveleth I am downloading a bunch of episodes that I haven't listened to yet, so hopefully that helps give you some small bump.
