This explains a lot.

@fraying The question is how do we get the information in front of the eyes of the people who don't know this?
They aren't going to hear it from Fox, and unless they have a really smart kid, they aren't hearing this in the kitchen table arguments they are having, which means our media is not doing a good job at getting this out to liberals either.
@brambledoog Yup!
Locking all the true reporting behind paywalls also isn't helping.
@fraying Plus most newspapers no longer exist for large swaths of Americans, which means liberals might have the education on national policy, there is very little engagement on a community level.
@brambledoog @fraying It sure would have been nice if we addressed this 4 years (or longer) ago. Now, in 2 months when the full force of the government and courts is behind fascism and censorship, and when rule of law no longer applies, how do you propose we do this?
@brambledoog @fraying
Good luck with that. They don’t want to hear it, because they already know these things are false. They just aren’t going to admit that the reason they voted for Trump is that they’re fucking racist, so they’ll make up any other excuse. You go in there telling them their excuses are false you’ll mostly get hostility, but one or two friendly people will try to play the long con and befriend you to try to recruit you to the cause of white supremacy.
@jrefior @fraying@xoxo.losiaIf What does it say about us if enough Latinos and black men voted for white supremacy over us?
Will they come back to us the next election if we are calling them white supremacists?
@fraying There's also the skewed idea of what tariffs are. It got sold to them as a tax on other countries, not a tax on Americans.
@fraying believe absurdities something something commit atrocities
@fraying how do I read this chart? For example, the stock market question: D+20 R+9.
Democrats got it right 20% of the time, Repubs 9%? That can’t be right… so what does it mean?
@bjoc No, the people who got it wrong voted +N for Trump, the people who got it right voted +N for Harris.
@fraying
Well not really. Because racists never admit that they’re racist. So they practice rationalization and justification. In other words, they make up a bunch of shit and they don’t care whether it’s true or not. It’s not *necessarily* that they actually believe any of these things.
@jrefior you say that like everyone here doesn’t know it already
